Trustee Recognition Award

Three trustees were presented the “Trustee of the Year” award by the New Jersey Library Association at its Annual Conference on April 28, 2009.

Suzanne Hayducka, South Brunswick Public Library. Suzanne joined the Library Board in 2003, appointed by our Mayor for her corporate background in marketing.  During her term she has helped see us through a 14 month construction project, the retirement of the Library Director, and grown into a true Library advocate. Suzanne has tirelessly served as a responsible and contributing Board member.  She has been active on the Personnel Committee and Liaison to the Friends of the Library.  Through her exposure to the Friends she has become a Lifetime member, volunteering her time at the Friends book sales and generously supporting the Friends.   She is also committed to the Library Foundation’s fundraisers and is among the top ticket sellers for our annual wine tasting and beefsteak dinner.  

Ethel Johnson, Harrington Park Public Library.  She was president of the Association library board when the decision was made to ask the voters to establish a municipal library in 1988. After the successful referendum  she was  appointed the first board president of the new municipal library in 1989 and has been serving on the library board ever since.  She has also been active very involved with trustee education serving on the Executive Board of the New Jersey Library Trustee Association and of the Bergen County Cooperative Library System Trustee Education Committee.

Dorothy Revay, Florence Twp. Public Library.  Dorothy has served as treasurer of the library for 40 years. Dorothy, known as "Dot" was appointed treasurer when the library was housed inside the local firehouse before it found a permanent home in the building where it is housed today.  She maintains copious records and gives unselfishly of her time to the library board of trustees.  She can always be counted on to be prepared and provide detailed financial information.
