The Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations, a division of the American Library Association, promotes outstanding library service through educational programs that develop excellence in trusteeship and actions that advocate access to information for all.

The New Jersey State Library was established in 1796 and is the second oldest State Library in the country. The mission of the State Library is to provide leadership to the state's library community in the provision of excellent library and information services to state government and to all the people of New Jersey. The State Library is located in Trenton and has three major service units functioning under the leadership of the State Librarian.

The New Jersey Library Association is the state's professional association for all libraries and provides support, information and training for New Jersey's library staff members.
